Youth Swim Lessons ~ Term 2 ~ Nov-Dec ~ Fall/Winter 2021/22

The Queensbury Parks & Recreation Department offers swim lessons year round. Indoor lessons are conducted at the Queensbury Elementary School pool from September to April and summer outdoor swim lessons are held at Gurney Lane Recreation Area late June to mid-August. Youth (ages 3-16) swim lessons are taught the American Red Cross – Learn to Swim Levels 1-6 progressions and are taught by department-trained swim lesson instructors and swim aides, overseen by a certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. Class swim lesson participant to instructor ratios meet or exceed American Red Cross recommendations and are overseen by an on-site lifeguard.

In addition to youth swim lessons, the department offers Infant/Parent (6 mo.-18 mo.) & Toddler/Parent (19 mo.-36 mo.) classes. These half-hour classes have the parent and child interacting and learning through guided in-water exploration.

REGISTRATION BEGINS - WEDNESDAY, 9/1/21 

*Parents: We have created WAIT LIST classes for Levels 1, 2, and 3.  If there are no available seats for your child's specific level, please enroll them into the wait list class.  There are occasions where spots open up due to class transfers, withdrawals, and added time slots. There is No Fee for wait list enrollments, but you must add the class to the cart and fully check out to be considered added to the wait list. 

COVID19 REQUIREMENTS
COVID-19 UPDATE: EFFECTIVE September 1, 2021
As we begin our fall/winter programming, we are updating our COVID-19 Guidance for all program participants. Guidance provided below considers that we are in an area with high transmission rates (Warren County).
Additional announcements will be shared as guidance from Warren County Public Health is updated.
All participants are encouraged to NOT attend programming if they are not feeling well or if a family member is not feeling well.
Additionally, it is recommended that participants keep their hands clean, wear face coverings and practice social distancing when participating in all indoor activities or programs.
QBY. SCHOOL FACILITY PARTICIPANTS:
Participants of programs that use INDOOR school facilities are REQUIRED to wear masks at all times (Except while participating in aquatic programs).
OUTDOOR FACILITY USE:
Participants at outdoor programs, trails or facilities are NOT required to wear face coverings unless they are unable to maintain social distancing or in large gatherings.
VACCINATED PARTICIPANTS:
With the exception of Qby. School Facilities, face coverings are recommended during indoor activities and programs. Participants may be asked to show vaccination card or NYS Excelsior Pass.
UNVACCINATED PARTICIPANTS:
REQUIRED to wear masks for indoor activities and programs (Regardless of location) and should maintain 6’ social distancing when possible.

  • Inclement Weather: Lessons will be taught provided the Queensbury School Campus is open. If there are Ice or snow storms, and the school closes the campus completely, class will be cancelled. To stay informed please check or update your MyRec accounts MOBILE NOTIFICATION settings to receive updates on program delays or cancellations. We are no longer using RainedOut as of November 1st.
