Mad Science
We are excited to welcome back and partner with Mad Science of the Capital District to offer the following exceptional, unique, and hands-on science programs!

All programs and camps are curriculum-correlated and meet S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) objectives. They make it their mission to spark imaginative learning! Mad Science is the leading science enrichment provider for children. These programs will encourage team-building as we work collaboratively to solve real-world S.T.E.M./S.T.E.A.M. problems!

All supplies are included.

for the 2022-2023 school year

Taste Buds - 1
  • Learn about the biology behind your “buds” and take home your very own taste test kit! Children develop a taste for science! Children get hands-on with magnifiers, model tongues, and mirrors to see what their own tongues look like – and test the classic model of the “tongue map”. A quick tasting test sorts out which class members are supertasters. The instructor uses spoonfuls of sugar to show sugar content in popular children’s drinks. A nose-plugging experiment links taste and smell, and children scientifically sniff-out extracted scents.

WhoDunIt - 2
  • Test your skills and learn how the pros do it through careful observation and techniques to handle evidence properly. Using your Whodunit Kit™ take home, you can practice the skills of recall and observation.

Mix It Up - 3
  • It’s time to shake up solutions and explore mixture chemistry. Children sort out mixtures, clear color from a variety solution and see how useful a suspension can be. The Super Sorter gives children the tools to sort mixtures at home!

Under Pressure - 4
  • An exciting immersion in the science of air pressure and Bernoulli’s principle!

Magnificient Magnets - 5
  • Experiment with magnetic fields and build an electromagnet. Experience the pull of magnetism! Ever been an atom in a magnet? Don’t be repelled! Visit the North and South Poles and frolic in invisible fields. Children use magnetic wands, explore magnetic attracting and repelling forces, confuse compass needles, and magnetize paper clips. Entertaining demonstrations show the magnet’s gravity-defying abilities and educate children about the Earth’s magnetic properties. Play with some of the wildest forces in the universe!
