Botanical 2
This class combines Science, namely Botany, and Art.

We’ll be using reference photos of beautiful plants as inspiration to create vibrant and realistic works of art.

Botanical Illustration is the life-like representation of a plant and should include the plant’s distinguishing features which enables botanists to tell one plant from another. This class will use a mapped out process to create the form and shape of the plant. Some artistic license may be taken with color, detail, and overall composition to create a unique artwork. We will use colored pencils and a non-toxic solvent with paintbrush to create a blended, more painterly, work of art.

No experience is needed for this class and students will be amazed at how realistic their work turns out after using this step by step art-making process. After instruction is given on the medium, technique, and some practice work is done, each student will create an 11 x 14 finished work.

Instructor:  Lisa Mancini, has received her BFA from Plattsburgh State University and her MA from SUNY Albany with a concentration in painting. She has enjoyed working with people of all ages, as she has taught undergraduate students at the State University of New York at Albany
