Swim Lessons at Gurney Lane Term 2

The Queensbury Parks & Recreation Department offers swim lessons at Gurney Lane Recreation Area from late June to mid-August.  Swim lessons for ages 3-16 are taught the American Red Cross Pre-School Aquatics and Learn to Swim Levels 1-6 progressions by department-trained swim lesson instructors and swim aides, overseen by a certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.

Learn-to-Swim classes are designed to improve each child’s swimming skills at their own pace. Swimming requires advanced motor coordination that requires considerable practice, so it is not unusual for a student to stay at one skill level for more than one session.

  • Inclement Weather: Lessons will be taught in the rain. If thunder/lightening is heard or seen we will conduct "Safety Day" activities. I.E. Swimming safety videos, poster boards, dryland PFD use, aquatic coloring sheets
