Students entering Grades 5-8 for the 2026-2027 school year will explore the art of digital photography under the guidance of Queensbury High School Art Teacher, Amanda Hoffis.
Supplies and equipment are provided and at the end of the program participant's digital photo files will be sent home.

Class Descriptions
July 21 | Nature Photography — Explore the beauty of nature and learn how to use composition to capture interesting visual perspectives focusing on color, texture, and pattern. Use the digital camera settings to create soft bokeh backgrounds to make your main subject pop!
July 22 | Action Photography — Did you know digital cameras can capture images that your eyes can’t see? Learn how to use camera settings to freeze motion at 1/4000 of a second. We’ll experiment by dropping, splashing, and moving to create striking photos.
July 28 | Pattern & Texture Photography
Create eye-catching photography by zooming in on textures and patterns from nature. Practice using a macro lens to capture the smallest details.
July 29 | Light Painting Photography
Pablo Picasso didn’t paint with only paint brushes, he also created photographic “paintings” by capturing the movement of light. We will learn how to use digital camera settings to create our own photo light. paintings using glow sticks, LED’s and flashlights.
August 4 | Tiny Worlds Photography
Use miniature figurines to transform everyday objects into imagined worlds, staging tiny scenes around them to create fun, playful illusions.
August 5 | Distortion & Reflection Photography
Explore creative photography using prisms, mirrors, glass globes, and water to bend, reflect, and distort light into magical images.
