Trail Running Program - Boys & Girls Ages 8-14

Kids will participate in a series of games and activities to build endurance. Activities will include tag games, capture the flag, relay races, scavenger hunts and tennis ball activities.
The week will start with participants running a quarter of a mile on day one, a half a mile on day two and building up to a full mile on day 5. The week will culminate in the annual Churney Gurney race on Saturday, August 3 where the kids will participate in a 1.25 mile (2 kilometer) fun run.
Sneakers/running shoes, a water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, hat or sunglasses are required.

About the Program Supervisors:
Michael Oleynek
Mike has a Graduate Degree from Cortland State in health education and an Undergraduate Degree in P.E. He is currently employed as a Physical Education/Health teacher at Fort Ann Central School District. Mike ran cross country/track and field at Cortland and is a varsity track and field coach at Queensbury Central School District. He has a passion for running and helping others.
Thomas Rizzo
Tom has an undergraduate degree in Earth Science Education from SUNY New Paltz and a Masters in Environmental Geoscience from Mississippi State. He is currently an Earth Science teacher as well as Head Cross Country and Assistant Track Coach at Mechanicville CSD. With over 10 years of experience at various levels of running, Tom has an extensive knowledge of the sport.
