Summer Kickoff Programs Ages 6-12
Kick off your summer with our fun and interactive drop-off programs!
GENERAL INFORMATION
Summer Kickoff Programs
Books and Beaches
Join us at the Caldwell Library in Lake George for some reading & fun in the sun! Registrants will spend the first hour of this program at the library enjoying a story, hands-on activities, and a chance to check out books. This will be followed by time swimming at Shepard Park! For convenience, please send your child with a bathing suit under his/her clothing so we are ready for the beach! An application for a library card will be attached for parents to complete before the program (this library is part of Southern Adirondack Library System. Children who already have cards at Crandall or other participating libraries do not need a new card).
Canines & Kiddos
Ever heard of the dog days of summer? Lora from PAWS for Obedience will be joining us for this exciting program! Registrants will participate in station work teaching them all aspects of dog ownership and care, with the help of therapy dogs! This is a can’t-miss program for dog lovers. Drop off at the Lovering Pavilion, Gurney Lane Recreation Area.
**PAWS participates in various community outreach programs, and welcomes donations to help offset these costs. You are welcome to bring a donation of food or treats for the organization if you are willing and able!**
Kindness Walk
Kick your summer off with kindness! We all know and love our Kindness Rock Project at Hovey Pond. Let’s spread the kindness to other areas of our beautiful community! We will meet in The Hansen Center to decorate kindness rocks, followed by a walk on the You Are Nature trail. We will place our rocks along the trail for all to enjoy!
Milk, Sugar, Science: Engineering Ice Cream
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Cornell Cooperative Extension will be joining us for this fun and delicious program! Participants will explore the journey of milk from cow to ice cream, make ice cream in a bag, and discover how food engineers have developed many different processes for making ice cream.
