You’ve heard of SUP but have you tried Pool Yoga? Whether you are new to Pool Yoga or want to keep your SUP balance in tune during the off-season, Queensbury Parks & Recreation is now offering Pool Yoga classes. Come experience pool yoga on our extra-large rectangular Pool Yoga Boards in the warmth of the pool area. These boards provide great stability and support a variety of traditional yoga poses. You will get wet, so bring your suit, towel and water bottle!*Trial dates- Want to see if you are able to get on the board and check your balance? We will have the yoga boards available for demo by appointment Tuesday evening 7:30-8:30 PM. Please contact Gary Crossman @ garyc@queensbury.net to arrange a trial.

A wrestling program will be offered for children in Grades 1-6.  The philosophy of Mat Rats is to develop athletic skills through the basics of wrestling.Children must be at least Grade 1 (sorry, not Kindergarten).Program Supervisors: Mark French and Shirley French

Toddlers and preschoolers need time to socialize, learn, and play, but most of all, have FUN!This program delivers on every element! Children will explore and play games that promote coordination, agility, and gross motor skills, such as walking, running, and jumping. There will be opportunities for free-play to release energy! A variety of activities will enhance fine motor skills - especially hand-eye coordination and reflexes. Children will engage in educational activities through play, focusing on shapes, colors, patterns, and numbers. This program strengthens muscles and develops sensory awareness. You’ve heard of SUP but have you tried Pool Yoga? Whether you are new to Pool Yoga or want to keep your SUP balance in tune during the off-season, Queensbury Parks & Recreation is now offering Pool Yoga classes. Come experience pool yoga on our extra-large rectangular Pool Yoga Boards in the warmth of the pool area. These boards provide great stability and support a variety of traditional yoga poses. You will get wet, so bring your suit, towel and water bottle!*Trial dates- Want to see if you are able to get on the board and check your balance? A variety of activities will enhance fine motor skills - especially hand-eye coordination and reflexes. Children will engage in educational activities through play, focusing on shapes, colors, patterns, and numbers. This program strengthens muscles and develops sensory awareness. Whether you are new to Pool Yoga or want to keep your SUP balance in tune during the off-season, Queensbury Parks & Recreation is now offering Pool Yoga classes. Come experience pool yoga on our extra-large rectangular Pool Yoga Boards in the warmth of the pool area. These boards provide great stability and support a variety of traditional yoga poses. You will get wet, so bring your suit, towel and water bottle!*Trial dates- Want to see if you are able to get on the board and check your balance? Toddlers and preschoolers need time to socialize, learn, and play, but most of all, have FUN!This program delivers on every element! Children will explore and play games that promote coordination, agility, and gross motor skills, such as walking, running, and jumping. There will be opportunities for free-play to release energy! A variety of activities will enhance fine motor skills - especially hand-eye coordination and reflexes. Children will engage in educational activities through play, focusing on shapes, colors, patterns, and numbers. This program strengthens muscles and develops sensory awareness. Successful On-Line course completion and attendance at ALL In-person skills sessions is mandatory.A.  Participants must be at least 15 years of age on or before the final class date.  A photo copy of your birth certificate will be required at the beginning of the pre-course session for proof of age.B.  Pre-course In-Water session involves the completion of  a 200 yd swim-tread-swim sequence for Lifeguard Training or a 550 yd swim for the Waterfront Skills module before continuing with class.   If you cannot accomplish the proper pre-requisites, consultation with Instructor required.                 1. 200/550 Yards Swim-Tread-Swim sequence is: (goggles are allowed)                             a. 150/350 swim demonstrating either Front crawl or Breaststroke                             b. immediately position oneself vertically in the water and tread for 2 minutes                             c. 50/200 Swim either Front Crawl or Breaststroke or a combination of both.                2.   Timed -Event: (goggles are NOT allowed)                             a. 20 Yard Swim, Surface dive, retrieve object, return to surface, swim back w/object using your legs only, hands must remain on the object, face must be at or near the surface and exit the water without a ladder or steps.                3.  20 yd Underwater swim, for Waterfront candidates.                              a. Starting in the water, swim 5 yards. Your face may be in or out of the water.                                 - Submerge, swim underwater and retrieve the three dive rings.                                 - Return to the surface after picking up all three dive rings and continue to swim for another 5 yards to complete the sequenceC.  Attendance at ALL classes is mandatory.  D.  Bathing suit and towel required for ALL pool activity.E.  Come prepared with light snacks and drink for energy.F.  See flyer for specific dates and times.* Includes Pocket Mask*Successful Lifeguard candidates that are employed by the Department will have course fees refunded at the conclusion of a full summer season of employment. Successful On-Line course completion and attendance at ALL In-person skills sessions is mandatory.A.  Participants must be at least 15 years of age on or before the final class date.  A photo copy of your birth certificate will be required at the beginning of the pre-course session for proof of age.B.  Pre-course In-Water session involves the completion of  a 200 yd swim-tread-swim sequence for Lifeguard Training or a 550 yd swim for the Waterfront Skills module before continuing with class.   If you cannot accomplish the proper pre-requisites, consultation with Instructor required.                 1. 200/550 Yards Swim-Tread-Swim sequence is: (goggles are allowed)                             a. 150/350 swim demonstrating either Front crawl or Breaststroke                             b. immediately position oneself vertically in the water and tread for 2 minutes                             c. 50/200 Swim either Front Crawl or Breaststroke or a combination of both.                2.   Timed -Event: (goggles are NOT allowed)                             a. 20 Yard Swim, Surface dive, retrieve object, return to surface, swim back w/object using your legs only, hands must remain on the object, face must be at or near the surface and exit the water without a ladder or steps.                3.  20 yd Underwater swim, for Waterfront candidates.                              a. Starting in the water, swim 5 yards. Your face may be in or out of the water.                                 - Submerge, swim underwater and retrieve the three dive rings.                                 - Return to the surface after picking up all three dive rings and continue to swim for another 5 yards to complete the sequenceC.  Attendance at ALL classes is mandatory.  D.  Bathing suit and towel required for ALL pool activity.E.  Come prepared with light snacks and drink for energy.F.  See flyer for specific dates and times.* Includes Pocket Mask*Successful Lifeguard candidates that are employed by the Department will have course fees refunded at the conclusion of a full summer season of employment. The department will offer the NYS Boating Course, required for anyone 10-17 years of age wishing to operate a powerboat or over 14 years old to operate a personal watercraft on any body of water within the State.If you are from out of state, New York recognizes the boating safety certificate issued by your home state.Who needs a boating safety certificate?Under a new law known as Brianna’s Law, all motor boat operators born on or after:   Jan. 1, 1978 will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2024.All motor boat operators regardless of age will need a boating safety certificate beginning in 2025.
